For years, the subject of Białystok's Jewish community was taboo. Thanks to the grassroots work of local activists and history enthusiasts, this has changed. Today, residents are keen to take part in events honouring their former neighbours, and have initiated various meetings and historical walks.
In 2024, on the 80th anniversary of the outbreak of the Ghetto Uprising, numerous institutions organised events commemorating the Jews of Bialystok. Unfortunately, there were no events dedicated to people with disabilities and schoolchildren. We believe that this gap should be filled. Our aim is to promote local history. We have asked teachers to prepare educational materials. We encourage you to download, use and benefit from them. They can be used in the classroom or inspire your own projects.
